Laurie Garrett's Departure from Newsday

I caught this link on AmericaBLOG.org and thought it was well worth spreading around: The comments by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Laurie Garrett on her departure from Newsday.
Garrett beautifully articulates what many of us know: That the MSM has given up its public trust and become just another business. As big corporations have taken over the daily papers and television and radio stations around the country, the truth has been devalued, investigation has been marginalized, priorities have been overturned. When Michael Jackson is more important than the human rights of women around the world, something is seriously wrong.
John in DC is right: The way Garrett describes journalism of old sounds an awful lot like the blogs of today. Passion, anger, determination to get the truth out there.
